Clara Swartzentruber is a soprano based in the Philadelphia area, specializing in early, new, and choral music. Recently, she sang as part of the JSB Ensemble, performing Bach’s B Minor Mass in Stuttgart, Germany. Earlier this year, she appeared at the Kimmel Center with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia as the second soprano in Vivaldi’s Gloria, as well as premiering Evan Williams’ A Little Mass for Christmas. In recent seasons, she has appeared with the All Saints’ Cecilia Choir as the soprano soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, with Choral Arts Philadelphia as the soprano soloist in Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium, with Opera Philadelphia in concert, and as the soprano soloist in Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël. She can also be heard on The Crossing’s world premiere recording of John Luther Adams’ Sila: The Breath of the World. Outside of her musical pursuits, you can find her rock climbing all over the US or elbow-deep in focaccia dough.
